The Jets enter their Week 9 matchup against a divisional foe on Monday Night Football.

Following their loss to the defending Super Bowl champions, the Jets dropped to 0-8 on the season. They became the first team in NFL history to begin a season losing each game by eight or more points. New York has now been outscored 238-94 on the season while not having a touchdown in its past seven quarters.

While that might bode well for the Patriots, they stumble into Monday’s matchup having lost their previous four contests. New England has struggled to gain its footing following life after Tom Brady, but Monday presents a get-right game for a reeling 2-5 team.

Even with both teams’ struggles, oddsmakers view the Patriots favorably. They haven’t dropped a game to the Jets in nearly five years. Now the Patriots are favored by seven points on Monday, according to BetMGM.

The total over-under for Sunday’s game is set at 42.5 points with both teams holding at -110. New York possesses a money line of +280 at a seven-point disadvantage. Against the spread, both teams hold the same odds at -110.

The last time these two teams faced off on Monday Night Football, Sam Darnold saw “ghosts” while the Patriots cruised to a 33-0 victory. Darnold’s status for Week 9 is still up in the air, but even with New York’s paramount offensive struggles, Bill Belichick is under the belief that they’re a better team in 2020 despite their record.
