The quarterfinals of Euro 2020 start Friday, and they’ll be drastically different than expected. Euro 2020 picks and predictions

Prediction

England (+200) will take on Italy (+400) in the final with England winning Euro 2020. If England advances, it’ll play the semifinal and final at Wembley Stadium in London.

Best value

Betting the favorite at this stage of the tournament isn’t an overly profitable endeavor. In this situation, I’d suggest making a couple of bets with the best value being BELGIUM (+700).

Belgium’s odds were second to England for most of the Group Stage; however, it drastically slid with MF Kevin De Bruyne and winger Eden Hazard questionable for the quarterfinal match.

Without its two best players, Belgium would be stretched thin. That said, this is the best value because both players are expected to return after the quarterfinal.

Given how poor even England has looked at times, getting Hazard and De Bruyne back would instantly make Belgium the tournament favorite. However, it’s not expected to get by Italy, making this premier value for the top team in the FIFA rankings.

SPAIN (+300) also presents good value after Switzerland beat France. The Swiss were destroyed 3-0 by Italy in the Group Stage and aren’t good enough to down sixth-ranked Spain. France had been playing poorly the entire tournament, despite a star-studded roster.

How to bet the Euro 2020 winner

The way I will be playing the Euro 2020 winner is simple: take ENGLAND (+200) and prepare to hedge the bet.

Most who follow the tournament should understand England’s pathway seems easy. It has Ukraine, who beat Sweden in a match neither team should’ve advanced from. Then, it’ll get the winner of Denmark and Czech Republic.

Either way, the home side should come out on top. With the final in London, England will have a home-pitch advantage in the two biggest games.

As we saw with Hungary getting two draws at home, the crowd helps. England will be the favorite in both of those, regardless of who it plays. Getting England at +200 gives you a chance for automatic money as just reaching the final allows for leverage.

The risk is England being upset by Ukraine, Demark or the Czech Republic. It’s a risk I’m willing to take.
