The number of NFL teams with 85 percent of their locker room vaccinated from COVID-19 continues to increase. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on Monday, in total, seven teams in the league have 85 percent of their players vaccinated.
Additionally Pelissero reports that 70 percent of all players are vaccinated as of the report’s time. That number had trended upward as compared to prior reports as well:
Seven NFL teams are now above the 85% threshold for player vaccinations and 70% of players league-wide have at least one shot, I’m told.
Second shot (or single-shot J&J) needed by today to be fully vaccinated and avoid major restrictions when most teams report to camp July 27.

This report comes only a few days after a July 7 report that increased the number of teams with 85 percent of their players vaccinated from two to five. In recent days, that has evidently increased again.
The total number of players that are vaccinated in the NFL spiked two percent from previous reports. Last week, that figure sat at 68 percent of players vaccinated. As of July 7, 67.1 percent of total American males aged 18-39 had received the vaccine, putting NFL players on-par with society in terms of COVID-19 vaccination numbers.
The only two teams specifically mentioned to have reached the 85 percent of players threshold were the Saints and Dolphins, per MMQB’s Albert Breer in June.
Reports throughout the offseason have suggested the NFL and NFLPA might agree to loosened team safety protocols for clubs that have reached 85 percent of players vaccinated. No official agreement has come about, though.
