Jamal Murray scored a team-high 40 points, Nikola Jokic recorded a triple-double with 16 points, 22 rebounds and 13 assists and the Denver Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 7 on Tuesday to advance to the Western Conference Finals.
The Nuggets became the first team in NBA history to overcome two consecutive 3-1 series deficits in the same postseason with the 104-89 victory. Denver has now won six straight games when facing elimination in the playoffs.
Denver entered halftime trailing by just two points but outscored Los Angeles 50-33 in the second half to pull out the win. The Nuggets shot 48.6% from the field in the second half and held the Clippers to just 28.9% shooting from the field, including 17.6% from 3-point range.
Jerami Grant and Gary Harris helped lead the Nuggets with 14 points apiece while rookie Michael Porter Jr. had two points and seven rebounds. By contrast, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George combined to score 24 points on 10-of-38 shooting from the field.
The Nuggets have consistently shown throughout the playoffs that no deficit is too large and that they are always alive until the final buzzer. Now, the organization returns to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2009 to face the Los Angeles Lakers.
