Nuggets’ Markus Howard sets new career-high in win over Timberwolves

For the second time in the past week, Denver Nuggets guard Markus Howard notched a new career-high, this time in a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Howard produced 15 points, one rebound and one assist in 17 minutes of work to lead the Nuggets off the bench. He converted on 5-of-10 shots from the field, including a career-high 4-of-8 from 3-point range in the 114-103 win.

With a few players absent from the game, the Nuggets again turned to Howard and the undrafted rookie turned in his best game of the season. He has stayed ready for the opportunity and that certainly showed on Thursday night.

The performance came just two games after Howard scored 13 points in a loss to the Brooklyn Nets. He has played sparingly this season, but head coach Michael Malone opted to put him into the game early and he responded.

Howard earned praise from Malone after that effort as the Nuggets coach was happy to see him perform given the way he has worked this season. Howard credited each of his teammates up and down the roster for helping him stay ready as he begins to see more playing time.

The Nuggets will to try to get some of their high-minute players some rest with the season winding down, so Howard could continue to see more time on the court.
