Veteran shooting guard Evan Fournier was already breaking records in his Boston Celtics debut — but not the sort you’d want to be setting, unfortunately.
While his rough-shooting night absolutely shouldn’t be taken as an example of what the accomplished wing can do on a basketball court, Fournier evidently came down with an epic case of the yips at the worst possible moment, going 0-for-10 from the field in his inaugural game as a Celtic. Having played 33 minutes of game time, the Frenchman logged the most minutes without scoring by a Boston player with at least 10 field goal attempts since the start of the 3-point era in 1980, according to Statmuse.
ESPN’s Tim Bontemps relayed word from Elias Sports Bureau that Fournier was just the fourth player in the shot clock era to shoot 0 – 10 or worse in their first game with a new team.
