Notre Dame’s Tommy Rees yelled ‘do your [expletive] job!’ during rough first quarter vs. Cal

Rule No. 1: do your job.

It’s been a rough start to college football season for Notre Dame.

The Irish got outscored 14-0 in the second half of Week 1 to drop a 21-10 game at Ohio State. They then turned around in Week 2 and fell in South Bend to Marshall, a team they paid $1.25 million to make the trip.

So, at 0-2, there was already enough going on to put the Notre Dame coaching staff on edge. Some poor quarterback play to kick off Week 3’s matchup with the California Bears got the blood boiling even more.

Watch Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees absolutely rip into QB Drew Pyne after an overthrown pass forced the Irish into their third-straight three-and-out to begin the game:

On the following ND drive, Pyne responded with — you guessed it— another three-and-out. And followed that with a fumbled snap on the second play of the drive.

BRUTAL.

It’s safe to say this probably isn’t how Pyne imagined his first career start, as he replaced QB Tyler Buchner who missed Saturday’s game with a shoulder injury.

Lucky for Pyne, he eventually settled down and got things going for the offense.
