Notre Dame Baseball – All-Time First Round Draft Picks
Brad Lidge, RHP, 17th overall in 1998 by Houston Astros
Lidge was originally drafted out of high school by the San Francisco Giants in the 42nd round of the 1995 draft but opted to attend Notre Dame. After his career with the Irish, Houston made Lidge the 17th overall selection in June of 1998.
Lidge would eventually debut for the Astros in 2002 and help lead them to a National League Pennant in 2005, a year he earned an All-Star selection.
From there he’d go to Philadelphia where he helped the Phillies win the 2008 World Series.
