Notre Dame Baseball – All-Time First Round Draft Picks

Ken Plesha, Catcher – 17th overall in 1965 by Chicago White Sox

Selected one pick after the Bernie Carbo in the first MLB Draft in 1965, Ken Plesha was the third catcher ever drafted, with Ray Fosse and Gene Lemont going ahead of him.

The White Sox selection didn’t end up working out as Plesha hit just .186 during his time in their organization, never making the major leagues.

After baseball Plesha returned to McCook, Illinois where he taught grade school physical education, was superintendent of the park district and also served as village treasurer.

Plesha died in 2009 at the age of 63.
