Notre Dame’s Chris Tyree on Doak Walker Award watch list

Think Chris is a worthy successor to Kyren?

Notre Dame has had a strong running game the past couple of years, mainly because of [autotag]Kyren Williams[/autotag]. Now, the primary torch has been passed on to [autotag]Chris Tyree[/autotag]. If you didn’t know it already, he will be one the running backs to watch around the country this year. If you still don’t believe it, he’s been named to the preseason watch list for the Doak Walker Award, which is given annually to the top running back in the nation.

Tyree has been the heir apparent to Williams in both seasons he’s played for the Irish. In 23 career games, he’s run for 718 yards and five touchdowns on 129 carries. He also has caught 32 passes for 323 yards and two touchdowns. Oh, and he returned a kick 96 yards for a touchdown during the 2021 Shamrock Series games against Wisconsin.

Tyree would be the first Irish player to win this award. Let’s hope he stays in the conversation for it all season.
