Jeff Feyerer’s Notre Dame-Georgia Tech Game Prediction (4-0):
There is a right way to treat this contest and a wrong way. The wrong way of course is to look ahead to the Clemson game next week, especially now with all of the news about Trevor Lawrence and his positive COVID test. Could guys in the Irish locker room be saying, “Hey, they’re going to be without their best player, we may have a chance” even though Lawrence technically hasn’t been ruled out. Georgia Tech isn’t a “bad” team so seeing the Yellow Jackets upset the Irish isn’t that crazy.
The right way to handle this for the Irish would be reviewing what they did in scoring 45 against a decent Pitt defense, find out things they can work on to broaden their offensive capabilities in a tilt against Clemson that also fit within a winning game plan and work on those areas in a game against a Georgia Tech defense giving up 41 points per game. Find out who you can trust behind Kyren Williams. Find out if Joe Wilkins or Jordan Johnson or Lawrence Keys can be another viable option in the passing game. Continue to find ways to get the ball to Tommy Tremble and Michael Mayer from various formations. I’m not worried about the Notre Dame defense. They’ve proven time and time again they will rise to the occasion. This week against Georgia Tech, it’s about Notre Dame, halfway through the season, finally figuring out what the true potential of their offense can be.
Notre Dame 41 Georgia Tech 10
