Before the 2023 college football season, Notre Dame’s trip to Clemson the first weekend of November appeared to be one of the biggest non-conference matchups in all of the sport. We were all almost certain that it’d get the primetime treatment as a College Football Playoff berth would almost certainly be in play for both.
Fast forward to late October and the two teams have five combined losses and the College Football Playoff isn’t happening for either.
So what do we get?
An early, non-prime time start on Nov. 4 for a game that is going to air on either ESPN or ABC, still to be determined. Oh, and that kickoff time is also still to be determined as it could be 12:00 p.m. ET or could be 3:30 p.m. ET.

With Clemson out of the ACC race and New Year’s Six discussion it’s easy to see why this one shifted to earlier. Pittsburgh awaits Notre Dame this weekend before the Clemson game which really feels like it’s a chance for the Irish to go on the road and show that these are two programs headed in opposite directions.
In terms of who it favors – sign me up for avoiding Death Valley for a night game 10 times out of 10.
