Notre Dame will host in-state offensive lineman committed to Iowa today

A flip candidate is on campus today

Notre Dame football is extremely picky when recruiting inside its home state of Indiana, but it seems like they have found another prospect that fits what they are looking for.

Indianapolis offensive lineman [autotag]Cameron Herron[/autotag], who is currently committed to Iowa, will be on campus for an official visit according to a report by On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

The 6-foot, 3-inch and 275-pound interior lineman is ranked as the country’s No. 473 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. While Herron’s ranking doesn’t seem like it will move the needle, the Hawkeyes, like the Irish, have a great eye for recruiting offensive lineman.

This visit shouldn’t surprise anyone, as the need for an interior lineman in the class is fairly obvious.

The Irish currently have only tackles committed in the 2025 class on the offensive line, so adding a prospect on the inside makes plenty of sense when looking at the construct of the group.

Hopefully Herron, like in-state athlete Brandon Logan, realizes that everything he wants to accomplish at the collegiate level can be done closer to home in South Bend.

Warren Central offensive lineman Cameron Herron poses for a photo Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis.
