Notre Dame Week 8 highlight: Fake punt keeps key drive alive against Georgia Tech

Notre Dame gets a big fake-punt run from Jeremiyah Love.

Fake punts are almost always a risky proposition, but the Notre Dame Fighting Irish pulled one off against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The successful fake kept an important late-game drive alive for the Fighting Irish.

It’s officially listed as a pass from linebacker Tommy Powlus to running back Jeremiyah Love for a loss of 8 yards and a first down — perhaps the online live score needs some tweaking. Either way, Love did carry the ball for a first down on a reverse.

Unfortunately the Irish were unable to turn the special-teams trickery into a game-sealing touchdown, but a made 42-yard field goal by backup kicker Zac Yoakam at least made it a three-score game.

Jeremiyah Love had a key fake-punt run late in the game for Notre Dame.
