Notre Dame Volleyball Player Hattie Monson is ACC Freshman of the Week

Hattie Monson has wasted little time making an impact on Notre Dame’s volleyball team. The ACC took notice of this and named Monson, a freshman libero, its Freshman of the Week. She made her Notre Dame debut during the Irish’s first match of the season Sept. 25 at Louisville and led the team with 20 digs. Her three aces were a high for the match.

Monson is one of four freshmen on the Irish this season. One year before coming to Notre Dame out of Benet Academy in Lisle, Illinois, she was a PrepVolleyball.com First Team All-American and an Under Armour Second Team All-American. More recently, she was named to the U.S. Women’s Junior National Training Team. In 2018, she won a gold medal with the U.S. Girls Youth National Team during the NORCECA U18 Continental Championship.

Notre Dame (1-0, 1-0) will play only three other opponents during the regular season: Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Boston College. The season wraps up Oct. 24.
