Notre Dame baseball was expecting to host an NCAA baseball tournament regional this year but was somehow left out of hosting a region despite a stellar record and playing in the nation’s toughest conference.
Regardless, the Irish are just one win away from winning their regional and will have two chances to do it against a team they’ve already beaten this postseason in Texas Tech. That’s because the Red Raiders beat regional host Georgia Southern 3-1 early Sunday to move onto the regional final against Notre Dame.
Top-seeded Georgia Southern scored the game’s first run thanks to a Texas Tech throwing error in third inning but it was all Red Raiders from there as they scored three runs in the fourth which wound up being the only other runs of the contest.
Notre Dame now takes on Texas Tech in the regional final with the first game taking place at 7:00 p.m. ET. It can be seen live on ESPN+.
