When you discuss the strangest weeks in the history of Notre Dame football the memories of George O’Leary and Lennay Kekua certainly come to mind.
After this week you can add a COVID-19 outbreak to the Notre Dame football team to the list of stranger things that have occurred under the watchful eyes of Touchdown Jesus, especially when you consider the virus was spread after a player vomited during a pre-game meal.
Head football coach Brian Kelly spoke to ESPN and discussed the outbreak as well as the plan to return to the practice field on Wednesday.
Kelly stated that he expects almost 90% of the team to be available to practice by Saturday and that they’ve been having Zoom position meetings and conditioning in smaller groups for the time being.
Notre Dame is currently set to return to the field again on October 10 when they welcome Florida State to Notre Dame Stadium for the first night game of the season for the Irish.
