Notre Dame running back leaves USC game with ankle injury

Hope it’s nothing serious.

Notre Dame running back [autotag]Jeremiyah Love[/autotag] was having a typical day against USC. He completed the goal of scoring in every game during the regular season while tallying 99 yards on 13 carries.

However, that’s where Love’s accomplishments for the day will stand because Love was ruled out for the rest of the game with an ankle injury. He attempted to work through it on the sidelines, but it soon became clear that he was not right enough to continue. [autotag]Jadarian Price[/autotag] handled the bulk of the rushes after that.

Losing Love ahead of the College Football Playoff would be a tremendous blow to the Irish’s offense. He easily has been that unit’s best player this season, and it would be significantly hampered moving forward. That is not where you want to be when the competition level is about to ramp up and with higher stakes.

Hopefully, Love will be back for whatever game the Irish play next.
