Notre Dame quarterback Drew Pyne enters the transfer portal

Drew Pyne played brilliantly vs USC, but that didn’t change his larger situation at Notre Dame — not enough, at any rate.

Fighting Irish quarterback Drew Pyne intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal. The third-year signal caller will have three years of eligibility at his next destination.

Pyne started 10 games for Notre Dame this season, leading the Fighting Irish to an 8-2 record.

Pyne is a 6-foot, 205-pound quarterback from New Canaan, Conn., who was a four star quarterback coming out of high school.

Drew Pyne finished the season with 2,021 passing yards to go with 22 touchdowns and six interceptions.

I expect Pyne to be highly sought after especially in a pro-style system, Expect teams like Wisconsin, Boston College, Stanford, Arkansas, Tennessee and many more to go after Pyne in the offseason.

Pyne did commit two turnovers against USC, and those two mistakes played a big role in helping the Trojans beat the Irish. However, over the course of 60 full minutes, Pyne played really well in the Los Angeles Coliseum, far better than even the most optimistic Notre Dame fan was expecting. He didn’t throw an incomplete pass in the game until the fourth quarter. He was consistently accurate with his throws, and he generally made the right reads against USC’s secondary.
