Notre Dame gets great news as a major contributor will return in 2025

Already great news for the Irish in 2025

Notre Dame defensive tackle [autotag]Gabriel Rubio[/autotag] will fill the spot of injured Rylie Mills against the Georgia Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals in his first career start.

Fortunately for the Irish, this won’t be the last time that Rubio will don the Blue and Gold. During Sugar Bowl media day, the fourth-year player let everyone know that he intends to return to South Bend in his final season.

This is big news, as Mills will most likely be off to the NFL, as will the other starter Howard Cross III. While Notre Dame has shown off tremendous depth along the defensive line this fall, they will have at least one of the spots shored up with the return of Rubio.

You’d have to expect that Donovan Hinish will be penciled in as the other starter, or the Irish could look to the transfer portal for more depth at the position. Either way, it’s great news that Rubio will return for one more go-around.
