It was only fitting for the 2019 Notre Dame team MVP to have one last hurrah as Chase Claypool put on a massive display Saturday, being a thorn in the paw of Iowa State all afternoon.
Claypool began the game by recovering a fumble on special teams before scoring the games first touchdown and on an acrobatic catch to make the Irish lead 10-0.
He was robbed of a second touchdown by a review I still don’t understand but it set Notre Dame for a touchdown they scored just a few plays later.
Chase Claypool’s day finished with seven receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown on a day he was the best offensive player on the field by a wide margin.
He may not have been a star from the get-go at Notre Dame, but he’ll be missed next season when he’s tearing up the track for an NFL team somewhere.
Offensive Game Ball Award: Chase Claypool 7 receptions, 146 yards, touchdown and fumble recovery (special teams)
