Much like the ten games listed between 90 and 81, 80 to 71 offer a bunch more against Power Five teams who weren’t living up to expectations the years of these games.
80. Air Force 2013: 45-10 saw Tommy Rees throw five touchdown passes as Notre Dame moved to 6-2 on the year.
79. Syracuse 2014: 31-15 Notre Dame win moved Irish to 4-0 as Everett Golson completed a program record 25 straight passes at one point but five turnovers kept this one interesting for far too long against a mediocre opponent.
78. Temple 2017: 49-16 saw 21 points in the first quarter as Notre Dame put the 2016 disaster in the rear view mirror with a strong start to the season.
77. Georgia Tech 2020: 31-13 moved the unbeaten Irish to 6-0 as Notre Dame avoided the trap game a week before No. 1 Clemson visited South Bend.
76. Stanford 2019: 45-24 victory gave Notre Dame it’s tenth win of the year for the third straight season and was the first Irish victory at Stanford in 12 years.
72. Purdue 2014: 30-14 didn’t come as easy as the final score indicates as this was the final game in the annual Notre Dame/Purdue series. The teams are scheduled to play again in 2021.
71. Boston College 2017: 49-20 win came as the Irish outscored BC 35-10 in the second half and Josh Adams and Brandon Wimbush both ran for over 200 yards.
Next Up: 70-61…
