Notre Dame Football: Monday Injury Update

Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly gave an update on the latest in regards to the Kyle Hamilton and Ben Skowronek injuries Monday.

Despite some injuries and players being ruled unavailable on Saturday we saw Notre Dame roll South Florida 52-0 in a game that was over seemingly seconds after the Fighting Irish team bus safely pulled into Notre Dame Stadium.

It probably won’t be as easy of task on Saturday when the Irish hit the road for the first time in 2020 to take on Wake Forest, but Notre Dame will still be a sizable favorite.  What about those injured players, though?  Will any of them be making a return?

Brian Kelly gave the latest update on a few of the injured Irish on Monday.

Wide Receiver Ben Skowronek (hamstring):

  • Upgraded to day-to-day
  • Was put through run progression Monday morning
  • Will be put through more football drill work Tuesday
  • If Tuesday goes well and he feels good and not overly sore after they’ll discuss with the trainers his return to practice

Safety Kyle Hamilton (ankle):

  • “He looks pretty good”
  • Expected to ramp it up and get into some practice later this week
  • From listening live it didn’t seem like Kelly was in any rush to get Hamilton on the field Saturday

Time will tell what ultimately happens with both of these but with an 0-2 Wake Forest team waiting on Saturday I would be somewhat surprised to see either Skowronek or Hamilton rush to return before a bye week and ahead of Florida State coming to South Bend.
