Notre Dame began the century by beating their biggest rival USC in both 2000 and 2001 but didn’t get by the Trojans again until Kelly arrived in 2010.
Going just 2-8 versus USC between 2000-09 was easily their best run against Notre Dame since 1970-82 saw them go 11-2 against the Fighting Irish.
Brian Kelly won right away against USC and despite falling to the Trojans in Notre Dame’s first night game since 1990 in 2011, has gone 7-3 against them.
Previous to Kelly’s arrival you would have to count back all the way to 1991 if you wanted to count out all of Notre Dame’s victories over USC, a number Kelly was able to reach in just one decade.
