Offensive – Ian Book

I debated this one a bit between Book and Skowronek and had Big Ben not had the lost fumble I may have gone his way but I give Book the edge for another fantastic showing.  Even after coming up huge in the upset of Clemson last weekend, some insisted on making it a debate whether Notre Dame went with the right quarterback as Jurkovec has put up huge numbers this year.  Book responded by playing another fantastic game as the Irish continue to improve in their ability to get the ball down field.  368 total yards and four total touchdowns show a quarterback that’s peaking at the right time.

Defensive – Daelin Hayes

This was another I debated as I thought about the importance of a couple of big plays and turnovers while the ever-stellar play of both Kyle Hamilton and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah showed yet again.  However, Hayes continues to be a force on the defensive line as he was causing pressures time and time again Saturday night and his fumble recovery late in the first half helped shift the tide for the rest of the ballgame.
