Notre Dame went to Atlanta to prove to Georgia Tech it was better than its poor early showing in ACC play. It wasn’t easy in a game that featured 10 lead changes and 12 ties. But the Irish ultimately prevailed, 78-74.

Prentiss Hubb led the Irish (11-6, 2-4) and all scorers with 25 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field. T.J. Gibbs scored 17, and Dane Goodwin came off the bench with 15. John Mooney had another double-double, this one 10 points and 13 rebounds, and an emphatic that surely gave the Yellow Jackets (8-9, 3-4) something to think about the rest of the game.

Every point was needed, especially with the Irish nursing a 65-64 lead with two minutes left. From there, it was Notre Dame’s to lose. The next two possessions featured Hubb putting back his own layup and a 3-pointer from Gibbs out of a timeout extended the lead to six. The Irish and Yellow Jackets then traded free throws for the final minute, and that made the win official.
