Notre Dame’s 2023 recruiting cycle is off to a strong start and added another solid defender Friday as linebacker Preston Zinter announced his commitment to the Fighting Irish.
Zinter is a 6-3, 215-pound linebacker out of Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Mass. Despite having his older brother Zak starting on Michigan’s offensive line, the younger Zinter chose Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame.
“I spent a lot of time with coach Freeman, not only one-on-one, but at the hockey game,” Zinter told 247Sports. “He just continued to emphasize that he really likes my athleticism and can see me playing any of the three linebacker positions.”
Zinter becomes the ninth commitment in the 2023 class for Notre Dame as it moves the Irish into the top spot nationally in the current 247Sports team rankings. Of the nine commitments, Zinter is the seventh to play defense.
Stay tuned to Fighting Irish Wire as we’ll share more on Zinter’s commitment and what it means to Notre Dame going forward.
