North Texas transfer G makes official visit to Florida

The Gators got one of the top guards in the transfer portal on campus for an official visit over the weekend.

The Florida Gators are taking a serious look at one of the top mid-major talents in the country last season, North Texas guard [autotag]Tylor Perry[/autotag].

Swamp247 reported that Florida hosted Perry over the April 7-9 weekend and was the first stop on what should be a lengthy tour of programs looking to bring him into the fold. Perry averaged 17.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game in 2022-23 as he lead North Texas to the NIT championship and was named the Most Outstanding Player in the tournament.

A former JUCO player, Perry has his pick of Power Five programs offering him a scholarship as a rising fifth-year. He’s made it known that he’d rather join a team with a plan to get to March Madness over a team offering him the keys to the court.

Todd Golden is looking for players with that kind of buy-in to add to his roster, but the question might be if Florida has enough of those guys already on the team to attract Perry over the likes of Arkansas, Baylor, Oklahoma and Tennessee, among others.

There hasn’t been any report of how Perry’s trip went, but he did recently retweet former Florida center Jason Jitoboh’s transfer announcement to the University of Memphis. Hopefully, an update will come from Perry soon.
