The win over Notre Dame was a sweet one on Senior Night for the North Carolina Tar Heels, helping send out the seniors on a positive note. It also helped them clinch at least a share of the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season title.
A win for UNC on Saturday at Duke gives them the title outright while a loss sees the two split it. But what the win didn’t do for UNC was improve their NET ranking.
North Carolina stayed put at No. 10 in the updated NET rankings on Wednesday, just one spot behind Duke who is at No. 9.
The Tar Heels haven’t really seen much movement in these NET rankings lately, staying anywhere from No. 8 to No. 12 depending on the result from the day before. A top 10 NET ranking is still strong as it includes UNC’s 6-4 Quad 1 record.
Saturday will provide another opportunity for a Quad 1 win for the Tar Heels as they head to Duke. And if they want to keep any slim hopes of a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament alive, they really need a win and to run the table in the ACC Tournament as well.
