It’s nothing but NET for the UNC men’s basketball team on this gorgeous Monday.
Carolina is riding high off a 6-game winning streak, with its most recent victory a 36-point drubbing of Syracuse over the weekend.
The Tar Heels are getting scoring contributions from everyone – not just RJ Davis and Armando Bacot. UNC’s offense continues to wow with its efficient, fast-paced tempo, but it’s the suddenly-efficient defense winning games.
Because of who Carolina’s beaten and the overall strength of its schedule, Carolina is high up in the NET rankings.
The Tar Heels remained put at seventh in the latest rankings, a spot ahead of Auburn and one place behind Tennessee.
Based on early-season results, the ACC appears to be pretty top-heavy this year. Wake Forest is surprising virtually everyone besides Deactown, playing to a 12-4 (4-1) record, while NC State has the same mark. Duke is playing its best basketball, too, while Florida State’s miserable 2022-2023 season appears to have been a fluke.
Regardless of how strong or weak the conference is, all UNC can control is winning games. Higher NET rankings certainly help a team’s NCAA Tournament chances, particularly those on the bubble, but Carolina will likely not have to worry about being on the outside this year.
