North Carolina loses out on four-star WR to ACC foe

The Florida State Seminoles land a big UNC football recruiting target.

For a while there, the North Carolina Tar Heels’ football program felt good about their chances to land four-star wide receiver Malik Clark. But on Thursday, Clark’s decision date, he committed to another Atlantic Coast Conference program.

Clark went into Thursday’s decision down to UNC, South Carolina, and Florida State. In the end, it was the Seminoles earning the commitment from Clark to boost their wide receiver core.

The South Carolina native was a big target of Mack Brown and North Carolina, becoming a priority recruit in 2025. Ideally, UNC wanted to pair him with rising quarterback Bryce Baker but will now have to turn to other options in the class moving forward.

The 6-foot-2.5, 183-pound wide receiver hails out of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and had 37 offers in his recruitment. He took four official visits and was on UNC’s campus a few times during his recruitment.

As for UNC’s class, they currently have 12 commitments total and are holding the No. 53 overall class per 247Sports. But they lost out on a major target and will now have to try to improve the class with other priority recruits.
