North Carolina among schools with most running backs drafted since 2010

The UNC football program is among the best in the country with running backs being drafted.

The 2023 NFL draft is just a few weeks away as the league welcomes in the newest talent from the college game. Among the players that will be drafted are some former North Carolina Tar Heels.

UNC has four prospects that were invited to the scouting combine as Josh Downs, Asim Richards, Antoine Green and Noah Taylor were all in Indianapolis. All except Taylor participated as he dealt with an injury.

While they get ready for the next steps in their careers, the Tar Heels’ program was mentioned among the top in terms of running backs drafted into the league since 2010. Pro Football Focus put out a stat showing the teams that have had the most running backs selected since 2010 and right there at No. 4 are the Tar Heels who have had 7 drafted:

Alabama leads the way with 11 followed by LSU and then Georgia. The Tar Heels are tied with Florida and USC in that span.

Since 2010, UNC has seen the following running backs drafted: Johnny White (2011), Giovani Bernard (2013), Elijah Hood (2017), TJ Logan (2017), Michael Carter (2021), Javonte Williams (2021) and Ty Chandler (2022).

UNC wont add to that number this year but they could find themselves with a few more in the future.
