LOS ANGELES — The 2020 XFL campaign is approaching and the Los Angeles Wildcats will kickoff the season Feb. 8.
Wildcats’ Director of Player Personnel is former University of Tennessee wide receiver Joey Clinkscales. The VFL played at UT from 1984-86, winning the 1985 Southeastern Conference championship.
Los Angeles offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Norm Chow discussed the upcoming XFL season and Clinkscales joining forces with the Wildcats in 2020.
“We have spent a lot of time together,” Chow told Vols Wire of Clinkscales. “I bug him to death, always telling him I need a receiver, a quarterback, so he knows what I need. Every time I call him, I think he rolls his eyes back. He has done a great job for us. We have a tremendous staff here.
“Our head coach is Winston Moss. He is an exciting, dedicated head football coach and is really trying to do what is right for us. We have a good staff. Our defensive coordinator is Pepper Johnson. We know Joey really well and it is an exciting time for us because we get to coach and actually play a game.”
Los Angeles will play at Houston to kickoff the 2020 season on Feb. 8. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. ET and will be televised by FOX.
