None of Raiders three Super Bowl wins crack top 30 in CBS Sports rankings which is right where fans should want them

It’s Super Bowl week, so each day you’re going to see talk of Super Bowls past. CBS Sports went with what they’re calling their ‘definitive’ ranking of all 53 previous Super Bowls.

If you are a Raiders fan, you’re probably wondering where the team’s three Super Bowl victories landed on the list. You probably also think they should be pretty high. After all, you were pretty excited about them. The result couldn’t have been better for you.

So, it may come as a bit of a shock to you to find out the highest-ranked of those three Super Bowl wins is way down at number 35. That’s where writer Will Brinson put Super Bowl XI, which was the first of the three in 1977.

The go-to response from a Raiders fan is to see this as hating on the Raiders. But consider that those who don’t have a vested interest in the outcome are just looking to see a good game. And the Raiders trounced the Vikings.

Oakland Raiders 32, Minnesota Vikings 14

A total of 17 Hall of Fame players or coaches were involved in this showdown, but John Madden’s Raiders easily waltzed away from Bud Grant’s Vikings.

They won going away. The game was not touted as expecting the Raiders to win at all, but they did with ease.

The same can be said for the other two Raiders Super Bowls. Next was Super Bowl XVIII which landed at number 38.

Los Angeles Raiders 38, Washington Redskins 9

Two defensive touchdowns in the first half and a pair of Marcus Allen touchdown runs in the second half snuffed out the 16-win Redskins and Joe Theismann. Hey, Los Angeles can win a Super Bowl! This would be the last AFC title until the 1997 season.

Their second Super Bowl, and third on the list, came in at 41.

Oakland Raiders 27, Philadelphia Eagles 10

The Raiders led 14-3 at half and a trio of Ron Jaworski interceptions were too much for Philadelphia to overcome, especially with Jim Plunkett tossing three touchdowns for an MVP-caliber game.

Those were some fun Super Bowl Sundays for Raiders fans. But not the most exciting game for anyone else who wanted to see a competitive game.

In case you were wondering, the Raiders’ big loss to Jon Gruden’s Buccaneers was farther down the list at number 49. If they harbored any hatred for the Raiders, this Super Bowl would surely have been much higher on the list.

The Raiders’ loss in Super Bowl II to the Packers ranked at number 33.
