No. 8 Michigan State hockey splits series on the road against Air Force

Recapping MSU’s weekend series against Air Force:

Michigan State hockey is off and running in a highly anticipated season, the second of Adam Nightingale’s tenure in East Lansing.

After a sweep over Lake Superior State in the Spartans opening series of the 2023-24 season, MSU traveled west to take on the Air Force Academy.

Michigan State would proceed to split their series with the Falcons.

Game One – L 6-5

In game one, the Spartans had a horrid start filled with penalties and eventually found themselves down 5-1. It was a valiant effort in the second half of the game, but the comeback fell short and the Spartans lost 6-5.

Game Two – W 5-3

Game two was the Joey Larson show. The sophomore scored his first career hat-trick in the game, while adding an assist in a 4 point effort, leading MSU to a 5-3 win.

Now sitting at 3-1 on the season, Michigan State will look to continue their momentum against Canisius this Thursday and Friday.
