No. 6 Notre Dame crushed in opener at Boston College

Tough way to start a series.

No. 6 Notre Dame was dismantled in Friday night’s series-opening game at Boston College, 10-0 by the Eagles.

The Irish couldn’t get anything going at the plate as they surrendered runs in each of the first three innings to fall behind 5-0 by the completion of the third.

Ramon Jiminez’s three-run shot made the score 5-0 in Boston College’s favor that third inning and for all intents and purposes the game was over then.

Notre Dame, who has been a team that has had several impressive comebacks in 2021, recorded five hits and 11 walks but were unable to scratch a run across the plate.

The Irish look to get back on track Saturday as the two will take part in a doubleheader because of rain that is headed for the Boston area on Sunday.
