Rutgers field hockey got a huge win against a Big Ten rival. An already strong resume for the NCAA Tournament got an impressive boost with No. 5 Rutgers 1-0 win at No. 4 Penn State.
The win was the eighth of the season for Rutgers over a team in the top 25 of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll. It has been a tough schedule for Rutgers, whose only two losses came against programs ranked in the poll. Rutgers has won two straight since losing on October 1 to No. 1 Iowa.
With the win, Rutgers is now 10-2 and 3-1 in the Big Ten.
Three minutes into the second half, junior forward Rachel Houston scored to give Rutgers the edge.
