Baton Rouge, La. – The No. 5 LSU Beach Volleyball team travels to California this week to play in the East Meets West Challenge.
“It’s always an incredible privilege to go out west and play against some on the top programs at Manhattan Beach,” said head coach Russell Brock. “There’s something special about playing in a place with such rich history in our sport and in front of really knowledgeable fans. It’s a great opportunity to show people who don’t know us very well what we are all about.”
The Tigers play four matches, all featuring teams in the AVCA Top Ten rankings before heading back to the bayou. On Friday, LSU takes on No. 2 USC at 11:30 a.m. CT and No. 3 UCLA at 3:00 p.m. CT. On Sunday, the Tigers face No. 7 LMU at 10:30 a.m. CT and No. 8 Hawaii at 2:30 p.m. CT before heading home.
“Playing against top 10 teams is always important,” said Brock. “We are at the point in the season where we know the challenges increase and we expect to rise to that challenge. There are no matches off this weekend and I’m planning to see our best ball this weekend.”
LSU is coming off the LSU Beach Invitational where the Tigers went 4-1 with a win over No. 13 Washington.
