No. 3 Tennessee defeats No. 17 Kentucky and remains undefeated.

No. 3 Tennessee (8-0, 4-0 SEC) remained unbeaten in Week 9, defeating No. 17 Kentucky (5-3, 2-3 SEC) at Neyland Stadium Saturday.

The Vols scored on its first possession.

Hendon Hooker completed a 55-yard touchdown pass to Jalin Hyatt. Chase McGrath’s extra point gave Tennessee a 7-0 advantage.

Chris Rodriguez Jr. scored on a 3-yard run with 4 minutes, 44 seconds remaining in the first quarter for Kentucky. The Vols blocked the ensuing extra point and never trailed in the contest.

Tennessee led, 27-6, at halftime.

Tennessee’s defense forced three turnovers and sacked Kentucky quarterback Will Levis four times.

Brandon Turnage, Doneiko Slaughter and Juwan Mitchell recorded interceptions for Tennessee.

Hooker completed 19-of-25 passing attempts for 245 yards and three touchdowns.

Hyatt recorded five receptions, 138 yards and two touchdowns.
