You haven’t said it much during the Brian Kelly era at Notre Dame but again on Saturday the special teams units for the most part did their jobs at a very high level.
Specifically the field goal team going four-for-four on the day but hitting all three attempts in the first half to create a two-possession score at halftime. Jonathan Doerer hitting his fourth kick in the second half and nailing all four extra points is worthy of praise.
Furthermore the punt return team has been solid the last month or so with Chris Finke finding a rhythm there after a rough start to the season. It’s nothing world-changing but it’s a pleasant difference compared to how this unit has looked much of Kelly’s tenure.
One request however: Remember that really fast guy that wears number 25 who we discussed a little earlier? If he’s only going to get one touch a game on offense you think he might be an alright option to return kickoffs?
