Coming off a season that saw a perfect 12-0 regular season mark before losing big in the CFP to Clemson their was a wide-array of thoughts on what Notre Dame’s 2019 would look like.
Many had them losing big at Georgia, probably losing at Michigan and more people than not had them losing at Stanford all while the threat of an upset at home was widely discussed.
The 2019 regular season comes to an end and 10-2 ends up the final record and along with it come some different feelings than we’d probably have expected had most of us been told 10 wins was happening back in August.
We’ll discuss this a lot more thoroughly in the days and weeks to come but even if disappointing there is no shame to me in winning ten games as long as you know the standard is higher.
Notre Dame is not, or at least has not been at a high enough level to have CFP expectations each and every year (remember – hopes and expectations are two different things).
As bad as the last Saturday night in October was and as awful as the loss at Michigan was, I’d consider it wrong to judge an entire season on one brutal night, but we’ll have a ton more on this exact topic in the days and weeks to come.
