On Sunday evening, the No. 1 recruit in the state of Hawaii announced his commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Waipahu High School offensive lineman Preston Taumua chose the Huskers over Alabama, Arizona, Auburn, and Oregon.

All four major recruiting services rank Taumua as a 4-star prospect and the No. 1 player in the state of Hawaii. He is listed as an interior offensive lineman who stands at 6-3.5, 300-pounds.

Nebraska now holds four commitments in the class of 2024 on the interior offensive line. Taumua is joined by Gibson PyleLanden Davidson, and Jake Peters, who are all committed to the Cornhuskers.

Taumua is the highest-ranked Hawaiin prospect to commit to Nebraska since No. 1 ranked prospect Wynden Ho’ohull committed to the class of 2021. Ho’ohull would transfer to Hawaii back in January of 2022.
