San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall started training camp on the non-football injury list. There’s been no word from the team as to the nature or severity of the injury but he has a week of practices with the rookie before veterans show up in a week.
The team announced Pearsall was headed to the NFI list the same day starting wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk requested a trade from the team. The Niners selected Pearsall out of the University of Florida with the No. 31 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft.
Pearsall is in line to be the team’s No. 3 receiver behind Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel and perhaps replace Aiyuk if the team does trade him.

Pearsall was one of the big climbers in the 2024 NFL draft thanks to his ridiculous athleticism. Pearsall’s athleticism score of 85 at the NFL scouting combine was good for eighth-best among wide receivers while his production in college didn’t quite match up.
