Since their ugly start to the season, the San Antonio Spurs have turned their season around (to some degree). They haven’t moved up the standings or found themselves with any hope of being a playoff team, but their overall level of play has significantly improved since the start of the year. Obviously, Victor Wembanyama is a big part of that.
The rookie phenom has been a beast on both ends of the court, but his defense, in particular, has been rave-worthy. At just 20 years old, Wembanyama is already leading the league in blocks. He’s going to be a problem in the NBA for years to come.
After the Spurs’ loss to the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night, two-time MVP Nikola Jokic was cracking jokes about Wembanyama. (H/t ESPN)
“He had like 600 blocks tonight, but we got the win,” Jokic said.
Jokic may be the potential MVP this year, but he can’t escape the block monster Wembanyama.
