Days after Nike released a statement condemning “any form of antisemitism” without directly naming Kyrie Irving, the company announced on Friday it is suspending its relationship with Irving “effective immediately.”
Nike was set to release the Kyrie 8 shoe later this month, but says the company will no longer move forward with that plan.
The announcement comes a day after the Brooklyn Nets suspended Irving without pay for a “failure to disavow antisemitism.” Irving has since issued an apology on Instagram, writing that he is “deeply sorry” to the Jewish community for causing pain.
