Nicolas Claxton is described by coach Steve Nash as a “rookie” because of the injury he dealt with last season on his left shoulder. Teammates like Blake Griffin have been warning the young big man on what to expect in the coming days. Griffin told him, “Every single possession is going to be a little more physical.”
Claxton is ready for it all. In fact, the 22-year-old said on Thursday that he is “with all the smoke — I’m ready. I’m excited, I’m ready for whatever. That’s going to bring out the best in me.”

The former Bulldog claims he’s ready, but it’s only a matter of time for us to really see if he’s telling the truth. Claxton averaged 6.6 PPG, 5.2 RPG and 1.3 BPG on 62% shooting from the field this season. Earlier this season, Nash admitted that the young big man is the best defender on the team. Is there a possibility the Claxton breaks into an increased role come playoff time?
