Nick Saban ranked as top head coach in college football for 2023 season

There’s no better coach in the country than the Crimson Tide’s Nick Saban, according to recent rankings for the 2023 season.

Nick Saban probably has more national championships to his name than there are programs that would turn down an opportunity to have him coach their team. Alabama is lucky to have had him as long as it has and he’s still going strong after a decade and a half in Tuscaloosa.

It’s been three years since Alabama won a national championship and two seasons since the Tide have appeared in a national title game. Having 18 national titles may lead to warped standards. Only losing two games in a season and defeating a conference champion in the Sugar Bowl sounds program-defining for most teams, it was a disappointing end to the season for Alabama.

Saban and the Tide look to return to the College Football Playoff in 2023 with hopes of winning title No. 19. However, some have doubts about Saban heading into this season.

Well, CBS Sports’ Tom Fornelli recently ranked the top coaches in all of college football for the upcoming season. Saban comes in at the top spot.

“He’s the greatest college football coach of all time and remains No. 1 in these rankings,” writes Fornelli. “Seven national titles, 11 conference titles (shout out to 1990 Toledo!) and an army of former assistants running programs nationwide — including the guy hot on his heels here — fill out his extensive resume. Saban has been so phenomenal throughout his career that going two years without winning a national title has people wondering whether he’s lost a step.”

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Saban and Alabama football as the offseason progresses.
