Nick Saban: Jalen Milroe has earned starting QB job

Nick Saban made it clear: Jalen Milroe has earned the right to be Alabama’s QB1

During his weekly Monday meeting with the media, Alabama head coach Nick Saban made it clear that redshirt sophomore Jalen Milroe would be the team’s starting quarterback moving forward.

Saban providing clarity at the quarterback position is somewhat peculiar considering that Milroe did not play in Alabama’s Week 3 matchup against USF. There has been no explanation as to why Milroe did not play. Nonetheless, he will be the starting quarterback for the foreseeable future.

“From a quarterback standpoint, this is all I’m gonna say about this,” Saban said, “Jalen really showed the leadership that I was looking for during the game, in terms of supporting his teammates and doing the things that he needed to do. He’s had the opportunity to play so has the other guys. Jalen played the best of all those guys, so I think he’s earned the opportunity to be the quarterback.”

Milroe will get the start against Ole Miss in Week 4, and will likely keep the job unless something forces Saban to make a change.
