NEW YORK — The Philadelphia 76ers are getting set to take on the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and they will do so while missing a few key pieces.
One of those pieces is star big man Joel Embiid, who had been expected to make his preseason debut against the Nets. He had missed the first two preseason games, so playing against Brooklyn made sense.
“He’s just under the weather,” Sixers coach Nick Nurse said pregame. “So he’s out. So we’ll have no Joel, (James) Harden, (Danuel) House is also out, and Furk (Korkmaz) is still out so four guys out.”

In terms of not having his main guys out there to install what he’s trying to teach, Nurse isn’t all that concerned by it.
“It certainly impacts a little bit,” Nurse started. “I’ve seen quite a bit of them in practice, so that’s good. I’m probably more concerned on the other end of it that again this is nothing for Furk yet and about 15 minutes for House.”
Nurse wants to see what he has in Korkmaz and House Jr. to give them a chance in the rotation.
“Those guys are guys that I’ve coached against before and have been in the rotation and things and I need to get to know them so I’m having a hard time there,” he added.
The Sixers will take on the Nets at 7:30 p.m. EDT from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
