Yes, practically every NFL fan made the same joke/connection when the news about Carson Wentz’s foot surgery broke on Monday morning: the Indianapolis Colts should trade for Nick Foles, repeating the veteran QB replacing Wentz in 2017 when they were Philadelphia Eagles teammates.
You know what happened next. The Eagles won a Super Bowl.
Foles — still a member of the Chicago Bears at the moment — was asked about the situation in Indy, and I have to say: he could have brushed it aside and stuck with one of his remarks: “I’m a Chicago Bear right now.”
But he didn’t. He spent the bulk of that answer praising his former coach and current Colts bench boss Frank Reich: “He knows me. Y’all watched the 2017 and the playoffs, he changed the offense and built it around me and y’all saw what happened.”

That sure sounds like someone not so subtly trying to say, “if you can come and get me, that’d be great.” Foles, after all, is third on the Bears depth chart at the moment.
Am I reading too much into this? Maybe. But it all makes too much sense to everyone, including — it seems — Foles himself.
